I was looking at this post (x) which makes a parallel to River Song:

image

And I got to thinking, (as I do. A dangerous past time, I know…) what if Clara and River are reminiscent of the battle between The White Guardian and The Black Guardian?

One is meant to kill The Doctor, the other is meant to save him…but to what ends? River is in love with The Doctor and she has to kill him. Clara is clearly in love with him, and she has to save him.

Is this all coming down to chess, in particular the Queens? Remember Moffat mentioning something about a Love Triangle between River/Doctor/Clara?

I mentioned The Guardians perhaps making a return, because The Doctor has scathingly mentioned several times that: The Universe Doesn’t Care.

I also reasoned that it’s unusual that we’ve not heard one word about their involvement in The Time War. And that there’s a parallel to the Fall Of Gallifrey and the Fall Of Troy!

The Greek Gods were basically playing chess against one another, one side with The Greeks, the other side with The Trojans. Chess has played an important role in the latest episode…and I’ve got this all figured out now.

Clara is the same piece as River on the chess board in the game currently being played. They are both a form of trap.

Except River is the White Queen, created by the Silence to prevent The Doctor from reaching the Fields Of Trenzalore.

I was born to kill The Doctor

And Clara is the Red Queen, created by someone to make sure The Doctor reaches the Fields Of Trenzalore…

I was born to save The Doctor

And I think I know who has set Clara up as the person to lead The Doctor to Trenzalore. Someone who wants out.

Read on.

Curiouser And Curiouser….

Who knows Alice In Wonderland: Through The Looking Glass? It opens on a snowy, wintry night exactly six months after Alice In Wonderland, on 4 November (the day before Guy Fawkes Night, which explains Clara claiming she was born behind Big Ben…the Parliament House is behind Big Ben. Politics could also be a clue.)   and it uses frequent changes in time and spatial directions as a plot device, and draws on the imagery of chess.

(Aha, duplicity? Multiple places in time?  See Nightmare In Silver and Time Lords inventing chess? Game of Rassilon? Look at all these parallels I want to hug Moffat!)

So there are many mirror themes, including opposites, time running backwards, and so on.

If you did know, then you’d see several things ticked off the list:

  • The frequent mirrors. The looking glass.image
  • Alice awakens from her adventures, to think that it was all a dream:

`Oh, I’ve had such a curious dream!’ said Alice, and she told her sister, as well as she could remember them, all these strange Adventures of hers that you have just been reading about; and when she had finished, her sister kissed her, and said, `It WAS a curious dream, dear, certainly: but now run in to your tea; it’s getting late.’ So Alice got up and ran off, thinking while she ran, as well she might, what a wonderful dream it had been.

Oswin has a reversal of this scenario.

  • Clara has been wearing a lot of blue.imageAlice is frequently dressed in blue:

image

  • Alice is curious. Clara is curious. She’s always asking why.

image

VASTRA: And now you’ve come looking for him again. Why?
JENNY: Take your time. One word only.
CLARA: Curiosity.

  • The Doctor has frequently quoted Alice In Wonderland throughout his years. The most famous being in The Five Doctors: “Like Alice I try to believe three impossible things before breakfast.” He keeps referring to Clara as: Impossible. And he’s met her three times (so far.) !
  • Falling. Clara falls twice, most recently in The Name Of The Doctor trailer.

image

And down the rabbit hole.

image

  • Roses and the colour red have frequently been seen around Clara.

Painting the roses red.

The Red Queen in Alice In Wonderland is the Queen Of Hearts (oh snap) and in Through the Looking Glass?

image

She’s the Red Queen on the Chess Board. (That also explains all those crowns we’ve also been seeing…even an offer to be Empress.) But they’re the same character! Which I think is where this picture of Clara:

image

And all the connection to the Time Lords are coming into play. The Time Lords want out. Rassilon is to be found in Clara’s name. Clara has a lot of similarities to Time Ladies, Romana in particular.

The Doctor has said Clara is too perfect. She’s everything he could want. And that is a failing on the Time Lords part, they are perfectionists and The Doctor could tell right away Clara is a trap.

So…is this a new Game Of Rassilon for the 50th Anniversary? Perhaps with the GI simply being pawns? Well, with the rumours about The Doctor’s companions being kidnapped across time…I think this is a likely prospect.

The Doctor? Why, he’s the White Knight of course.

…maybe with a dash of The Mad Hatter.
